Canada's Regulatory Competitiveness Directive Sets New Red-Tape Reduction Requirements
On 21 October 2026, the Government of Canada announced a Cabinet Directive requiring regulators to reduce regulatory burden costs by C$2 for every C$1 added through new regulations, with implementation scheduled for 31 December 2026. Although announced outside the requested seven-day period, the directive remains relevant for businesses preparing for regulatory changes.
